1947Co-founder of the group "Forma 1", the first Italian group of abstract artists; scholarship from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Paris. acquaintance with Gino Severini, Hans Arp, Georges Braque, Fernand Léger, Picasso, Le Corbusier
1950Founds the gallery/bookstore "L' Age d'Or" in Rome and Florence, avant-garde publications and magazines
1951Invitation to the Milan Triennale by Lucio Fontana (together with Guerrini and Perelli)
1952/56/58Participates in the Venice Biennale.
1953/54Stay in the USA, acquaintance with Mark Rothko, Robert Motherwell, Franz Kline and Clement Greenberg; after his return to Rome travels to Paris, London and Berlin
1959Participates in documenta II in Kassel, acquaintance with Heinz Mack, Otto Piene and Günther Uecker; in Paris with Yves Klein and Jesús Rafael Soto.
1960Max Bill invites Dorazio to the exhibition "Concrete Art: 50 Years" in Zurich; exhibition "Monochrome Painting" of the Museum Leverkusen; own room at the XXX. Venice Biennale.
1960-70Teaches at the Graduate School of Fine Arts of the University of Pennsylvania; 1963 co-founder of the Institute of Contemporary Art; 1968 appointed professor; in his New York studio he creates his first compositions built up from bands of color
1961Retrospective at the Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen, Düsseldorf; joins the "Zero" group
1964Participation in documenta III
1966own exhibition space at the XXXIII Venice Biennale.
1968scholarship of the DAAD, Berliner Künstlerprogramm, in West-Berlin
