Nesch's painting "Flower Still Life" came from the possession of the Heidenheim physician Dr. Büllmann. Only very few works from this period are still available. The painting "Flower Still Life" was created during a decisive phase of change in Nesch's work. A six-week working stay with Ernst Ludwig Kirchner in Davos made a lasting impression on him and changed his conception of art. A year later Nesch discovered the possibilities of material printing. The strong colors of Expressionism shine out of this bouquet, which is certainly also rooted in his acquaintance with Oskar Kokoschka. He had met him in the period between 1920 and 1923, when Nesch had moved into a master studio at the Art Academy in Dresden and Kokoschka was teaching there. The floridity lends the composition an ornamental flatness that contrasts with the diagonal stage space. A stack of books and a wall hanging form the niche that backdrops the bouquet standing in the center of the picture.
