Joseph Beuys is considered one of the most important German artists of the post-war period. He developed the concept of "social sculpture," a society-changing art, and is known for his "expanded concept of art," with which he wanted to abolish the separation of art and society and democratize art. The action artist and sculptor also caused a stir with unusual materials such as fat, honey or felt. I Like America and America likes Me" (1974), for which the artist, wrapped in felt, spent three days in the rooms of a New York gallery with a coyote revered as sacred by Native Americans, is considered a landmark performance.
